Publications get things wrong. What separates them is what happens next. Our corrections policy is simple: it happens in the open, on the page, with a date on it.
Telling us
Email corrections@docketjournal.com with the URL, the passage, and what is wrong with it. Evidence speeds it up. We aim to come back within two working days.
What we then do
- A factual error gets a correction in the text, with a dated note at the foot of the article saying what changed.
- A typo or a formatting fault that does not change the meaning gets a fix without a note.
- An error that changed the conclusion gets its note at the top of the article, where nobody can miss it.
- Taking a piece down is a last resort. Correcting leaves a record; quietly unpublishing destroys one. We remove only where there is a legal or safety reason.
What this corrections policy will not do
We do not soften or withdraw accurate reporting because a firm or a vendor asked, and no amount of money changes an editorial article. If that is the service being shopped for, it is not sold here.
