Write for Us

Docket Journal publishes people who do this work — practitioners, firm administrators, legal ops leads, and the consultants who are in firms every week. If you have something specific and checkable, we would like to read it.

What we are looking for

  • What something actually cost the firm, and over what period. A real figure with its assumptions attached beats a range you got from a vendor deck.
  • A process you changed — intake, conflicts, matter budgeting, collections — with what it looked like before, what broke during, and where it landed.
  • A piece of software you have actually run for a year, including what it does badly.
  • Something practitioners routinely get wrong, written by someone who has had to clean it up.

What we will not run

  • A version of an article already published somewhere else.
  • A firm announcement or a product launch in article clothing. Promotional material is welcome, but it goes through partner content, labelled, and it is a different conversation.
  • Anything resting on a claim nobody can check. Assertions that carry weight get linked to where they came from.
  • Drafts generated wholesale and sent unread. Readers can tell, and so can we.

How to pitch

Email editor@docketjournal.com with your argument in the first paragraph, what you are basing it on, and one line on why it is you writing it. A finished draft is welcome but not required. If you are pitching for a client, open with that — it does not disqualify the pitch and it saves both of us a round of email.

What happens next

We aim to answer within five working days, including when the answer is no. Accepted pieces are edited for accuracy, structure and house style, and you see the edit before it runs. Your byline stays yours and we link your site or profile once, from the author line. We do not insert commercial links into editorial, and we do not take payment to publish it.

Worth reading the editorial policy first.
